After leaving the Caribbean we went to La Fortuna where there is a volcano called Arenal. They had a place called the hot springs where the water was heated naturaly by the volcano.
We started from coldest springs to the hottest. The first pool, although the “coldest”, felt quite warm to me. It had a swim up bar and a small waterfall. The next pool felt a little bit colder and looked exactly the same as the first one except this one had a way bigger waterfall than the first one, which was getting fed from the next pool up.
We went up some steps to the third pool thinking they would all look the same but this one didn’t! This one had a bar and had a little waterfall but this one had places to lie down aswell. It even had a TV. The next pool was very, very big it even had extra pools in the middle. They felt very cold but they were actually the same temperature as a normal pool!
Each of the pools kept on getting hotter and hotter and shallower and shallower. The hottest one was unbearable it felt like I was burning my feet.
One of the pools had slides leading into the pool and different waterfalls in a circle. One was for kids and had little baby slides. There was a barrel which kept on getting filled up with water and once it had got to full it would tip to the side and people underneath in the play area would get very wet from it.
The lunch there was massive and very yummy. It was a buffet (Fins heaven)! We had about four to five courses, starter, main, main, dessert. Its hard work trying out different pools. ; )
The next day we were driving around exploring different things and we saw a river flowing which had steam coming from it. Immediately we walked down a path to see what it was. It was a river that had been heated from the volcano. It wasn’t as deep as all of the other pools in the hot springs but the same heat. It was very powerful in some parts from very small waterfalls. We could swim under the waterfall and you didn’t have to hold your breath! It was amazing how it had naturally formed itself.
