When we arrived in Vietnam we got our suitcase and rucksacks and went through security. Once we had finished everything we got some money out. It was strange because 500, 000 Vietnamese Dong is the same as £17.80! Fin and I were playing on the trolleys that you put your suitcases in. Fin was driving me around and he turned me towards the exit where people stand and wait for family or friends. I hadn’t realised but there were thousands of people staring at me. It was really strange to arrive to so many people waiting.
Once we had all the money we started walking towards the doors. It felt like you were famous walking along. There were barriers making sure people didn’t go inside. It was super busy and lots of people were bugging us as we walked through. It was very hot and humid. We had to make sure we drank enough water. Fin and Mum stuck to one trolley and Dad and I stuck to the other. I could smell lots of smoke from people smoking and fumes from motor bikes and cars. Dad booked a uber but he didn’t realise that he booked four motor bikes instead! So he rebooked and got a car uber, as we had a surfboard. Once the guy arrived to pick us up we noticed he didn’t have space in the car for the surfboard but we had board straps so we put them on the roof.
When we were in the car r it was extremely busy along the roads. A guy almost got pushed of his motor bike! (At least they had helmets). The man taught us some Vietnamese (happy new year is chuc mung nam moi) and showed us some of the places we drove past. I saw a guy washing a statue of Ganesh on his door steps.
I felt so happy to see everything around and I look forward to seeing and tasting more of the Vietnam food and looking around Vietnam.
